“Help me to serve reverently at your holy altar,
and so give you praise and glory.”

Being a server is an important ministry to the people of St. Gabriel.  Servers help to prepare for Mass, assist during Mass, and help after Mass.  Being a server is a privilege!  It requires a strong commitment from both servers and their parents.

  • Who can be a server?

We open the application process midway through the 6th Grade, preparing the server so he/she can serve starting in January of their 6th Grade year.  Each applicant must be baptized, have received their First Eucharist, and attend Mass every Sunday.  Adult servers are needed for the 6:00 am Mass Monday through Friday, and the 6:30 am Mass on Sunday.

  • How do I get trained?

Training will be scheduled.  There are normally three separate training sessions.  Handouts are provided for the Servers. Everyone must complete the training sessions.  Adult servers are trained as needed.

  • What happens if I cannot serve when scheduled?

If you are scheduled to serve, and cannot fulfill your responsibility, you must obtain a substitute.  If you do not get a sub, contact Fr. Tim.  If you do none of the above, you will be noted as absent.  Two absences within a year will result in you being removed from the serving list.
